Green Trust is further expanding its international operations with the addition of a fourth wind turbine at Cahermurphy Wind Farm in County Clare, Ireland. This wind-rich area along the west coast offers excellent conditions for renewable energy generation.
Powerful expansion: Enercon E115-4.2MW
The existing wind farm, which already has three Enercon E92 turbines, will be reinforced with a powerful Enercon E115-4.2MW turbine. Green Trust, as with the development of the original wind farm, is playing a key role in this project. We are supporting Mid Clare Renewable Energy DAC with asset management and are closely involved in the preparation and implementation of this expansion.
From contracting to financing: our contribution
Our team provided turbine and Balance of Plant (BOP) contracting. This includes essential infrastructure such as foundations, roads and cables. We also arranged the power purchase agreement (PPA) and successfully managed the financing. Financial close was reached on Friday 15 April, meaning that construction is now officially underway.
Construction supervision and planning
In addition to preparation, we also take on construction supervision to ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently. Joost Cornelli, project manager: "We are pleased to have reached this milestone and that the wind farm will now have the fourth turbine, as was always intended. This is an important step for renewable energy in County Clare, and we look forward to seeing the new turbine in operation in 2025."
Logistics and delivery in 2025
The turbine components have already been produced and will be transported by ship from Germany and Portugal to Ireland in early April. If everything goes according to plan, they will arrive on site in mid- to late April. Construction will start immediately afterwards, with the aim of having the new turbine operational by June 2025.
